Summary0004782: SMTP settings for auxiliary IMAP Accounts
Description

SOGo Web Mail does not seem to allow changes in outgoing SMTP settings for auxiliary IMAP accounts.

When writing emails from auxiliary imap accounts (eg icloud, gmail etc) in the SOGO Webmail client, SOGo uses the primary adress SMTP server.

However modern SPAM filters will remove this emails, as DKIM tests will not pass when an icloud/gmail etc. email comes in from a different adress.

Is there a way to change this?

Steps To Reproduce

Add Auxillary gmail/icloud IMAP
write to your own adress
mail will land in spam folder

Could this maybe be added as new feature? "Outgoing SMTP Setting"
It's pretty common in every email-app, no?

This feature is really needed. It usually makes no sense to add external IMAP accounts that will try to send through the primary SMTP server.

I absolutely agree. When configuring identities for an IMAP account you should be able to alter the SMTP settings for that specific identity. This would make the IMAP accounts feature a lot more useful.
Is there any news on this?

Plus one here, I don't understand why this feature isn't implemented, IMAP mail retrieval without the ability to send mail from this same account is useless. I'd love to see the ability for the user to set outgoing SMTP settings on new identities. What could be even better is the ability to configure some domains settings in sogo.conf for example.

The idea here would be to set SMTP settings for he user, something like an array : SOGoSMTPAccountsDomains = ((gmail.com, smtp.gmail.com:587, TLS, PLAIN), (yahoo.com, smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465, SSL, PLAiN), ...)
SOGo would recognize the domain part of user identity and use SMTP settings accordingly.

Is there any progress here?

And another one, with this feature we could set multi-accounts securely.

Made an account just to +1 this as well.
Sogo is almost perfect for my use case, but is overshadowed by the fact that I cant send emails in the web interface from auxiliary email accounts.

@sebastien
I need this too..
If there is a way to push it's release by paying something, how much would be needed?

Hello, it has already been reported to Alinto and they're thinking about how to put this kind of sponsoring in place. I will keep you updated.

Hello,
The feature has been made, you will find an example for gmail here -> https://www.sogo.nu/news/2024/sogo-v5100-released.html

However, doing this feature I've notice the password for auxiliary account was stored in plain text in the database...
So i've add a new feature to store them encrypted, read carefully the doc here -> https://www.sogo.nu/files/docs/SOGoInstallationGuide.html#Secret-for-sensitive-data

I've only test it with gmail and our alinto server and I will close this ticket so if you got any trouble, please open another.
