ZEG

The ZEG (Zero Effort Groupware) edition of SOGo is intended to provide a complete out-of-the-box testing environment of SOGo, the Open Source messaging and calendaring software.

The appliance is based on Ubuntu [External] 11.10:

  • x86 64-bit architecture
  • 100 GB of hard disk (ext4)
  • 1 GB of memory
  • 1 bridged network card (DHCP)

Virtual Appliance - Native Outlook Compatibility

This virtual appliance is meant to demonstrate the current native Microsoft Outlook compatibility SOGo has. The fundamentals have been developed and the progress towards an end-user usable version will be fast from now on. The beta5 release should be good enough for normal Outlook usage.

The domain you must use for local data is example.com.

Importing the Appliance in VirtualBox

From the GUI client of VirtualBox, click on the File menu and select Import Appliance.... This will bring up the import wizard which allows you to select the .ovf file included in the ZEG archive.

If you prefer the command-line tool, import the appliance using the command below :

VBoxManage import /path/to/ZEG.ovf

Make sure you're using a bridged network adaptor and you have a DHCP server on your LAN. Also make sure that the bridged network adaptor uses the physical adaptor that has an IP address on your LAN. Once the appliance has finished booting, a URL will be shown. Please follow the next instructions from there.

VMWare

Importing the Appliance in VMWare

From the GUI client of VMWare, click on the File menu and select New.... This will bring up the new virtual machine assistant. Click on Continue without disc.

On the next screen, choose Use an existing virtual disk. You will be asked to choose the .vmdk virtual disk you want to use. Select the one included in the ZEG archive.

From the pop menus that appear on the next screen, select Linux for the Operating System and Ubuntu for the Version.

At this point, you can finish the creation of the virtual appliance or customize the settings. Make sure you're using a bridged network adaptor and you have a DHCP server on your LAN. Also make sure that the bridged network adaptor uses the physical adaptor that has an IP address on your LAN.

Once the appliance has finished booting, a URL will be shown. Please follow the next instructions from there.
