Summary0002204: Manually accept event invites when the organiser
Description

Please could the calendar event UI be extended so that event organisers can accept or deny invites for individual attendees?

Additional Information

Users often discuss events outside of the rigid format of the ical e-mail events system. Or some are too lazy/other things to update their status on the event.

I would change their accounts to be resources instead.
With that all invitations would be accepted, if there is no clashing event in their calendar already.

If they are made into a resource what happens if they only fail to accept some invitations?

That also seems to lead to a loss of control if they in reality don't want to attend the event.

  • It is up to the user to organize his activities

  • If you agreed with User1 to have a meeting and you schedule appointment (which he/she is not going to accept), you can know that you will HAVE that meeting.

  • If user2 schedules at the same time event with user1 (because user1 had free time slot). It is a failure of User1.

  • I would not suggest converting their accounts into resources, but you can define ACLs that one person (e.g. secretary) has access to the calendars of "lazy" users and that person (secretary) can Accept event invitation.

Even if you convert it to a resource, and an event was automatically accepted, the invited person can decline this event later.
